MINUTES
OF THE MEETING HELD ON 4TH OCTOBER 2018 IN THOMAS HERD HOUSE, WARD
ROAD, DUNDEE.

1. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
The minutes of the meeting held
on 6th September 2018 were approved.

MATTERS
ARISING:
2.1.
(Re minutes
3.4 and 6.1). Dorothy said that Sarah Craig from Dundee Council was the person
to talk to about disabled toilet provision and disabled seating at concerts at
Slessor Gardens. Dorothy will arrange
for Carole and John to meet up with Sarah.
2.2.
(Re
minute 4.2). Christine Wilson put an invitation to today’s meeting on Facebook
and invited readers to share it. She will
do the same for future meetings. Anne has made a poster inviting people
interested in making Dundee more accessible to come to our meetings. Sandy will contact our printer about getting
it copied.
2.3.
(Re
minute 5.18). Graham Angus has visited
the home of the woman who needed the ramp and has suggested a company who
should be able to provide what she needs.
2.4.
(Re
minute 4.2). Dorothy reported back that new regulations (TSRGD
2016) state that disabled parking bays can be placed "at the edge of the
carriageway and situated wholly on either the carriageway or footway; or in the
centre of the carriageway or partly on the carriageway and partly on the
footway." Carole and Tracey said that parking bays that were half on and
half off the pavements were not suitable for users of motorised wheelchairs.
Dorothy will report this back to the Council Network Management Team.

3.1 Treasurer’s Report. Sandy informed us that he is still in the process of claiming funding from Disability Equality Scotland.

10/9/18 from Graham Angus re advice for the woman who lives in Australia and
had asked for advice on installing a ramp in her mother’s home in Broughty
Ferry. See Minute 2.3.

10/9/18 from Neatebox asking if one of our members could "test visit"
Dundee Council.

On
10/9/18 an invitation to a Dundee Pensioners’ Forum’s open meeting.

On
10/9/18 from DES inviting
us to join up to a closed group on Facebook that will only be open to Access
Panel members.
Christine has
organised us joining this.

On
13/9/18 from Leftfest asking if we could find someone to check out the disabled
toilet in The Reading Rooms Dundee.
Carole dealt with
this and it was agreed that since the red cord to summon help was missing, a
phone number to get help would be posted both on the inside and outside the
toilet door.

On
14/9/18 from DES saying that they had organised a training day for Access
Panels to be held in Dundee on 13th October
Lillian and Tracey
will attend this.

On
21/9/18 from CILPK saying that they are going to be doing some work with
PKC to get a handful of premises portable ramps and asking what info we gave
the venues when we did it.

25/9/18 from DES asking to report our activities over the last 3 months for
inclusion in their next Open Door publication.

written for Euan’s Guide by Claire D’All.

5.1
Dorothy said she was looking for a person who would sit on a panel at an event being run by
Peter Allen, Dundee Council, on morning of 24th October on Social isolation and
loneliness.
