2.                              MATTERS ARISING:

2.1.        (Re minute 3.1). Carole has not heard from McDonalds.

2.2.            (Re minute 3.3). Dorothy reported that work had started on the track for the hoist.

2.3.            (Re minute 3.5). Anne and Erik met with Scott Mands to discuss the future of Disability and Age Action Group. Scott will report on what he would like Dundee Access Group to do to continue the work of DAAG.

2.4.            (Re minute 3.6). Minutes of our Access Group meeting are now being added to our website. Members present were happy with the way this is being done and thought the website looked good.

2.5.            (Re minute 6.3).  Lillian and Gordon accompanied Erik when he visited the Fintry convenience shop 1st Stop 2 Shop. They were all impressed with the amount the owner had done at his own expense to make the shop accessible. Now Erik will draft him a letter commending all his efforts and Lillian will contact Scott Mands about having the shop reviewed by Disabledgo and she will write a review for Euan’s Guide. The owner has had the pavement lowered just outside the shop but access to it is frequently blocked by parked cars. The owner would like to have restricted parking there to ensure the dropped kerb can be used. Gordon will send Dorothy a photo of the problem and she will discuss the problem with the appropriate Council department.

4.      A.O.C.B.

4.1              As a result of Denis highlighting what he felt concerned our Access Group in his copy of ‘Dundee Hackney Carriage Unmet Demand Survey’ we had a discussion about whether the needs of disabled people in Dundee were being met by the Dundee taxi fleet. It was stated that it was not possible to get accessible taxis around the times they were booked for school runs. So making the taxi fleet 100% accessible would benefit wheelchair users, but it was also stated that there are others in Dundee who find accessible taxis impossible to use.  Dundee Council has decided that the present mix of accessible and saloon cars is the best compromise. Any individual who feels their needs are not being met should contact Dundee Council directly.

4.2              Dorothy said that there was a lady in Dundee who had started a petition to get changing places toilet installed in the Overgate. Everyone agreed that it would be good to have one and that Dundee Access Group should support the lady’s efforts.

4.3              It was agreed that there would not be a meeting in August 2016.

5.   DATE OF NEXT MEETING.

The next meeting of Dundee Access Group will be held on THURSDAY 7th JULY 2016 at 12.45 in Thomas Herd House, 10 - 12 Ward Road, Dundee, DD1 1LX.
